About us

The Oval (St. Helens)  is our pride & joy, it’s where we’ll assess and support Parents with their Children for around 12 weeks, working closely with Social Services in our Ofsted registered Residential Family Centre.

We’re looking for ambitious staff to join our team.

Within The Oval we can support upto 5 Families at any one time, and we believe it’s important they know who is working with them while they’re with us. That’s where you come in!

Within the larger team will be leads on Substance Misuse, Health & Domestic Violence, so we’re keen to hear from you if you specialise in these subjects.

We will work with you on your own development to further enhance the lives of those that we care for.
Part of your role will be to deliver sessions to the Parents to help them be the best they can be.

The work you do will directly contribute to court assessment & vital paperwork.

Within The Oval our primary focus is always on what is best for the children & babies that are with us, and we know the best way to achieve this is by being completely honest, transparent and empathetic with the Parent.

Within Shape Care our primary focus is you. We’ll make sure you feel valued, fairly compensated and empowered. You’ll find out much more once you’ve registered interest with us.

Our 20 odd years of experience tell us we can never rest on our laurels so we continually read, develop ourselves & strive for better, so part of trying to shape the industry with us means you will share these views.

The Role

You’ll work as a small team ensuring the Families are safe, secure and supported during the night.

We know babies don’t stick to a 9 – 5 schedule, and that’s why we need you.

Each evening when you start, and morning when you finish, you will have scheduled handover time with the team to discuss your observations during the night.

So, whether you’re imparting wisdom, soothing a baby, or monitoring the CCTV, you’ll know you being there is making a difference to the lives of those that live with us.

Communication is absolutely vital, so you’ll have weekly regular updates with your team, as well as monthly meetings with the whole team.

Ideally you’ll have experience enriching the lives of others.

In 12 months time you’ll look back proudly, knowing:

  • Your observations, assessments and reports were insightful, professional and accurate

  • You were steadfast in your commitment to ensuring every child receives the best possible start in life

  • You imparted knowledge & wisdom with passion to all our Mums

  • You saw the direct impact of your work, and you always contributed your ideas for the overall success of The Oval

To achieve a work life balance and consistency for our Families we will always work with you to give you an amazing work/life balance, our full time staff generally work 3 nights per week.

Our Waking Night hours of work are between 20:00 - 08:20 7 days per week, our full time staff average 37 hours per week.

We offer incredible rates of pay, endless development opportunities with room for progression, training, perks & more.
